Protecting Small Business from Overregulation

Small businesses are the backbone of our economy and business owners shouldn't be plagued with overly burdensome government regulations that stifle growth. As a former small business owner, I understand that the government should be helping businesses, rather than getting in the way.

That’s why last week I joined a bipartisan group of my colleagues to introduce the Regulatory Improvement Act of 2015. This legislation would help Oregon small businesses by cutting through onerous federal regulations. The bill establishes a commission to thoroughly review regulations already on the books. The commission is designed to help Congress get rid of duplicative and outdated regulations imposing disproportionately high costs on small businesses.

Growing our economy has been the highest priority for me since arriving in Congress. I will continue to support commonsense legislation that helps business and increases government efficiency.

Sincerely,
