Dear Neighbors,
I hope that this email finds you and your families safe during these tough times. I know personally how scary things are, my own home and farm in Canby where I raised my family is currently under level two evacuation orders. I have been home in Oregon this week touring evacuation sites, donation centers and incident command centers as these devastating fires rage through our state. As I spoke with evacuees, I was inspired by their incredible strength and resilience as they face the potential loss of homes and property. I would like to give special thanks to our brave firefighters, first responders, the Red Cross, United Way and countless volunteers who have stepped up to help. I am so proud of the way our community has joined together to help those in need and the overwhelming amount of donations from folks, no matter who they are or where they come from.
Conditions are changing quickly and I know it can be overwhelming to know what sources to trust and where to get information for your family about evacuations and health and safety. Below, I will list and link trusted local sources to follow and information on how to donate or volunteer if you can.
Unfortunately, there are some horrific people that are trying to mislead folks and politicize this terrible crisis with absolutely false information. Remember to please be sure you are getting your information from trusted sources and be cautious about what you read and share on social media in regards to the Oregon wildfires.
Stay strong. Be kind to each other and I know that we will come back stronger than ever.
