Schrader Celebrates the Passage of the Historic Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill

The landmark legislation makes real investments in Oregon communities, creates jobs and rebuilds crumbling infrastructure systems

U.S. Congressman Kurt Schrader (OR-05) issued the following statement today after the historic passage of the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act:

“The House passing the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act achieves the bold, bipartisan win that our country needs and deserves. Once-in-a-century investments are now headed to the President’s desk. Once signed into law, we can immediately begin fixing our crumbling roads, bridges, tunnels, rail and water systems, as well as fight climate change, create good-paying union jobs and make sure all Oregonians have access to affordable, high-speed broadband, especially rural communities.

I am proud of the significant role my Problem Solvers Caucus played in reaching this milestone. When talks between the White House and the Senate were breaking down earlier this year, my bipartisan group emerged as a leader in the tough negotiations and paved the way forward by assembling an ambitious framework that showed it was possible to make smart, significant investments in our nation’s infrastructure systems.

Passing the bipartisan infrastructure bill means Oregon families and businesses will receive the fuel they need to further recover from the pandemic and rebuild our economy stronger than before. It is an honor to deliver this win to our state and our country.”
