WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Kurt Schrader (OR-05) issued the following statement today:
“I am deeply concerned about the actions of federal law enforcement officers from the US Marshals Service and the Department of Homeland Security in Portland. The presence of federal law enforcement officers has only served to escalate tensions in the city. It should be up to elected city officials to request federal help with local law enforcement matters. We should let Portland decide how it wants to approach protests, not the federal government. I will continue to closely monitor the ongoing situation in Portland.”
