In an effort to encourage taxpayers to utilize Taxpayer Assistance Centers and to educate the public about tax benefits available from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act,Congressman Kurt Schrader (D-OR) announced today that he will visit the IRS Taxpayer Assistance Center in Salem on Saturday March 21st.
In an effort to encourage taxpayers to utilize Taxpayer Assistance Centers and to educate the public about tax benefits available from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act,Congressman Kurt Schrader (D-OR) announced today that he will visit the IRS Taxpayer Assistance Center in Salem on Saturday March 21st.
In conjunction with the IRS’s Super Saturday events at Taxpayer Assistance Centers throughout the country,Congressman Schrader will tour the center and speak with taxpayers seeking assistance.
“With the April 15th tax filing deadline approaching, it is critical that Oregonians understand what resources are available in this difficult economy,” said Schrader. “There are benefits that Oregon families can take advantage of in the recovery package and I am committed to making sure my constituents understand how they can access these opportunities.”
Area Director for Field Assistance, Glen Coles, will also be in attendance with other IRS personnel.
Congressman Schrader encourages taxpayers who believe they may benefit from the Taxpayer Assistance Center to visit during Salem’s extended hours on Super Saturday.
IRS Taxpayer Assistance Centers allow taxpayers face-to-face time with IRS employees who can help with a number of things, including the following: Answering tax law questions, establishing payment agreements, making account adjustments, providing information about electronic filing and tax forms, and preparing and filing the federal income tax return electronically for free if a taxpayer qualifies for the Earned Income Tax Credit.
