Interns with Congressman Schrader's office gain valuable experience and first-hand understanding of how our legislative process works. Congressman Schrader's office offers internships in both Washington D.C. and Oregon. Interns in both offices assist with answering phones, data entry, and general office systems operations. Interns are an important part of our Congressional staff.
Internships are available expressly for the purpose of furthering educational objectives, therefore they are usually awarded to college students and recent graduates. Priority is given to applicants from Oregon's 5th district, although all interested persons are encouraged to apply.
Washington DC Interns
Two paid internship programs are available in Washington DC.
Legislative interns will attend hearings and Congressional briefings, draft constituent correspondence, prepare memoranda, and conduct research on a variety of issues for the Congressman.
Digital interns will compile press clips, draft releases and social media postings, and design web content. Previous experience with design programs such as Adobe and Canva is preferred.
District Interns
Interns in our Oregon City and Salem offices will assist district staff with casework and outreach as well as performing many of the research responsibilities conducted in Washington DC and staffing the Congressman at district events.
