Today, the House passed a full 6-year reauthorization of the surface transportation act, H.R. 22, the DRIVE ACT. The bill passed the House by a vote of 364-64. Congressman Kurt Schrader (OR-05) released the following statement:

“For the first time since the 2005 Congress, this Congress has passed a robust, 6-year transportation bill with some substantial additional funding. The overwhelming vote continues to show the rank-and-file’s desire to get big things done for our country despite our partisan battles.”

“I am particularly pleased that my amendment to designate I-205 as a High Priority National Corridor was included. This designation brings much greater federal attention and funding opportunities to the Washington, D.C.-levels of congestion that now plague Oregon commuters and freight haulers in Clackamas and Multnomah counties. The prospects for getting 205 widened have just increased substantially.”
